Here is one of several lovely, Victorian chandeliers we recently obtained from a northern California estate — all well preserved and in excellent condition, the polished brass now acquiring a beautiful, mellow, golden patina. This electrified, two light gasolier, circa 1870s, features elaborate, cast brass ornamentation on the arms and above the body, a pierced filigree bobesche in the position of a dust catcher, more heavy, cast brass decoration above the finial and below the canopy — the latter which includes a wonderful ring of roses. The period, 5″ fitter, “fishbowl” shades are double etched with deeply etched backgrounds behind many cells of individual portraits of flowers. All in all, a fine example of the Aesthetic Movement. 32″ wide with shades, 40″ long (can be shortened).
